Server Demirtaş was born in Istanbul in 1957. He graduated from the Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts in 1984. He has had many solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions in Turkey. Demirtaş began to explore three-dimensionality at the early stages of his artistic career, experimenting with PVC. He glues piles of silk screened PVC plates in layers to create free standing sculptures. A number of his ironic PVC works were recently exhibited at the "Modern and Beyond: 1950-2000” exhibition in Santral Istanbul (2007-2008) and also at the Cannes International Art Show in 2008. Demirtaş received the award of merit at the "New Movements" Exhibition in 1987; the award of jury at the exhibition “Today’s Artists in Istanbul” in 1989.
