Ozan Sağdıç was born in Balıkesir, Burhaniye in 1934. While studying at Istanbul Kabataş High School, he had an interest in photography. In 1955, he worked as a clerk at the Istanbul Umum Photographer Association. In 1956, he started working as a photo journalist at Hayat magazine. In 1959, he had the open air exhibition “İnsan Manzaraları” (snapshots of people) in Balıkesir. With photographer Ara Güler, he created a photograph exhibition, which showed portraits of literary people, in Istanbul. At the end of 1959, Sağdıç transferred to the Ankara office of Hayat magazine. In Ankara, his photographs appeared in many magazines, reportages, and publications. Besides being a photo journalist, he served as a stage photographer at the State Theatres between 1960 and 1970. Sağdıç also taught art of photography in the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University and the Faculty of Fine Arts at Hacettepe University. He published the poetry book “Çağla Çağı”. He also translated many stories of Mer Hayyam and Mevlana into Turkish, and wrote poems about stories of Nasrettin Hoca and of Bektaşı.
Sağdıç was admitted as an honorable member in the AFSAD. He had his solo exhibition “Bir Kutu Maline ve Ben” (A camera and me) at AFSAD. He served as a founding member in the Society of Photography Art. He was chosen as a state artist in the photography section. After quitting his job at Hayat magazine, Sağdıç founded his own publication company. He published “Bir Zamanlar Ankara” for the Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. He also prepared the album “Dünyanın Bütün Çiçekleri” in the name of TRT. In 2009, Sağdıç had the exhibition “Yılda 55 Fotoğraf” in many cities in Turkey. In 2010, he was selected as an honorable member in the Bursa Photography Association. In 2014, he received a service award in the 18th Aydın Doğan Awards. Currently, Sağdıç continues his work in Ankara.
