Selin Balcı graduated from gradauted from the Department of Forestry at Istanbul University in 2002. She then went to the US and compeleted her BFA in Intermedia at West Virginia University in 2008 and MFA in Studio Arts at the University of Maryland in 2012. She the  worked in plant pathology related research labs for more than five years. In 2010 her work was included in the Scope Art Fair Miami.

Balci was awarded with College Art Association (CAA) Professional-Development Fellowship in Visual Arts. She has also received many other honors, including So Hamiltonian Fellowship from Hamiltonian Gallery, SmackMellon′s Hot Picks Artist Award, SOFAlab Science/Art Project Collaboration Grant from George Mason University and Goldhaber Travel Grant from University of Maryland. Balcı has held solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions and biennials in the US and abroad. She has given courses including Web Design, Digital Photography, and Adobe Photoshop at the University of Maryland. Balcı currently continues her work in the US.
