Ferhat Özgür was born in Ankara in 1965. He graduated from the Department of Painting Education in the Faculty of Education at Gazi University in 1989. He completed his master′s and doctoral degree at Hacettepe University. He then taught in the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Hacettepe University, and became an assistant Professor. Özgür works with different techniques using various mediums such as video, photography, painting and installation. His works are related with his subjective world, the social, political and cultural characteristics of the period and the geography in which he lives. His recent exhibitions include “Video Presentation”, A3 Cultural Center (Rileka, Croatia 2007), “Short-Storied: Photographs 1890-2006”, Macy Gallery (New York 2007), “Free Kick”, the 9th International Istanbul Biennial Hospitality Zone (Istanbul 2005). Özgür continues his work in Ankara.
