Prof. Gevher Bozkurt was born in Istanbul in 1926. He entered the State Academy of Fine Arts in 1943. He studied with Kenan Temizan, Edip Hakkı Köseoğlu and Zeki Faik İzer. After graduating from the academy in 1948, Bozkurt worked as an assistant at his alma mater. He prepared decoration and costume for the Ballet “Keloğlan”, which was directed by choreographer Ninette de Valois. Bozkurt made panels and graphic designs for Turkish Pavilion at a fair in Marseille in 1950 and a World Fair in Brussels in 1958. Bozkurt also painted many walls in national and international pavilions in an Izmir Fair.  He taught at Mimar Sinan University and founded the Voluntary School of Basic Art Education. Bozkurt served in Mimar Sinan University for 54 years and retired in 2002.
