Ercan Akyol was born in Skopje in 1953. He graduated from the Graphic Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University. His first caricature was published in “Ustra Mizah” magazine. Between 1974 and 1982, he drew caricatures in many magazines and newspapers such as “Özgür İnsan”, “Toplum”, “Ayrıntılı Haber”, “Çarşaf”, and “Çivi”. Akyol started drawing daily caricatures for the column “Arka Pencere” in Güneş newspaper in 1982. In 1988, he transferred to Milliyet newspaper. Since then, he has drawn caricatures for the column “Acık Pencere” in Milliyet newspaper. Akyol has received many national and international awards including the Jez award (Yugoslavia, 1988).
