Yaşar Gürbıyık was born in Buldan of Denizli in 1940. After finishing primary school, he started working beside his father. Gürbıyık worked as a weaver in Libya between 1978 and 1996. Since 2001, he has been weaving famous Buldan textiles at the Buldan Handicraft Centre.
