Ömer Faruk Özoğul was born in Erzurum in 1968. He graduated from the Department of Painting and Work in the Faculty of Kazım Karabekir Education at Atatürk University in 1996. Between 2000 and 2002, he learned sülüs and nesih scripts from the master Davud Bektaş. In 2002, Özoğul moved to Istanbul for his work. In 2005, he obtained his professional license from Davud Bektaş in a ceremony at IRCICA. Özoğul has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions and competitions in Turkey and abroad. In 2005, he won third prize in the category of celi sülüs in the calligraphy competition, which was organized by Albaraka Turk. In 2007, he received third prize in the category of celi sülüs in the 7th International Calligraphy Competition, which was organized by IRCICA. In the same year, Özoğul won first prize in the Vakıf Calligraphy Competition. Currently, he continues to draw calligraphy and teaches as a painting teacher at Kartal Hacı Hatice Bayraktar High School.
