Art Profile :

Gülnur Duran was born in Istanbul in 1962. She studied the art of illumination (Tezhip Sanatı) with Dr. İnci A. Birol and Prof. Çiçek Derman at the Traditional Turkish Arts Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Marmara University. In 1987 she received efficiency in art (“icazetname”) from Prof. Çiçek Derman, and from Dr. İnci A. Birol in 1991. She continued her master′s degree and became a lecturer in 1992. In 1996 she completed her doctorate and became an assistant professor in 1997. She has had solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions as well. She has researched and written papers about illumination art in Turkey and abroad.
