Füsun Barutçugil was born in Diyarbakir in 1956. She graduated from the business Management of the University in 1980. She started Ornament Illumination works at the Academy of Kubbealtı in 1988. Following this, she carried out her studies at the Atelier of Prof. Süheyl Ünver and at the Medical School of Cerrahpaşa. During the years 1990 – 1992, Barutçugil attended a course of the Ministry of Culture, which was organized at the Topkapı Palace Museum. She also participated in many courses of Turkish motifs, which were carried out by Prof. Kerim Silivrili at the Traditional Turkish Handcrafts Section of Mimar Sinan University. Since 1992, Barutçugil has carried out her works at Sema Nakışhanesi and Istanbul Marbling House – Ebristan in Istanbul. She has had several solo exhibitions and has participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad including England, Canada, the United States, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland, Pakistan, Iran, Bahrain, Syria, Tunisia, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi. Currently, she continues her work with Hikmet Barutçugil at Ebristan in Istanbul.
