Mehmet Başsav

Mehmet Başsav was born in Eskişehir in 1944. He finished his primary and middle school education. He started making meerschaum pipes at his workshop in 1967. Başsav founded his shop in Eskişehir, and made pipes to order and sent them to Istanbul until his retirement in 1992. Since then, Başsav has made portraits, statues and busts of meerschaum at his workshop. He is an artist who was recognized by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Currently, he continues his work in Eskişehir.
