Yılmaz Büyükaşık

Yılmaz Büyükaşık was born in Antakya (Hatay) in 1971. After finishing his primary school, he began weaving textiles. Büyükaşık family has produced silk cocoon since 1900. They learned weaving techniques from Armenians who were located in Aleppo. Yılmaz′s father, Hasan Büyükaşık, was born in 1934 and has woven textiles since 1950′s. He runs his family business with his three children: Ali, Tuncay and Yılmaz. They learned silk weavings from their father, Hasan, and try to transfer their knowledge to the next generation. Ali and Yılmaz work in their hometown, but Tuncay founded his shop in Istanbul and introduces their products. Yılmaz Büyükaşık has participated in many fairs and exhibitions in Turkey.
