Sönmez Tığ

Sönmez Tığ was born in Bartın in 1965. She graduated from Ankara Deneme High School. She learned how to embroider with flat strip of metal from women in Bartın and started embroidering textiles with flat strip of metal at the age of seventeen. She is now a master craftsman herself, and the president of Bartın Embroidery with Flat Strip of Metal (Tel kırma) and Handicrafts Association. Tığ and her works are recognized by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Currently, she works at her own workshop in Bartın and participates in many handicrafts fairs in numerous places such as Istanbul, Diyarbakır, Bartın, Nevşehir and Konya.
