Tilbe Saran was born in Istanbul. She graduated from the Theatre Department at Istanbul Municipal Conservatory and the Department of Art History at Istanbul University. Following appearances on stage at Kenter Theatre during her school years, Saran performed her first starring role as Barbara in the play "Run For Your Wife" at Dormen Theatre in 1986. For the first time she received an award for her performance. From 1989 to 1995, she joined the Istanbul Municipal Theatre and performed in "King Lear" (1990), "Uncle Vania" (1991), "Tartuffe" (1993) and "Çalıkuşu" (1994). In 1995 with Cüneyt Türel and Işıl Kasapoğlu, Saran established Aksanat Production Theatre, where she performed leading roles in nine plays until 2004. After playing Ronald Duncan′s "Abelard & Heliose" in 1996, she performed as Tekla in August Strindberg′s "Creditors" (1998), with which she won the Best Actress award in the Afife Theatre Awards. Since then, she has received multiple awards for her performances on stage. Saran finished her stage performance at Aksanat after performing in Tankred Dorst′s "Fernando Krapp Wrote Me This Letter" (2003) and Brian Friel′s "Two Plays After" (2004).

Since 2005 Saran has been working for Aysa Production Theatre. She performed with Zuhal Olcay in Philippe Blasband′s play "Nathalie" at Aysa in 2006. Saran gave a concert "Theatre Songs" with Zuhal Olcay at the opening ceremony of the 16th International Istanbul Theatre Festival. Saran performed in Sedef Ecer′s play "Sur le Seuil" in Paris on the occasion of the “Turkey saison in France” Project in 2009-2010. In 2009 she acted in the film "The Turquaze," a Belgian-Turkish co-production, directed by Kadir Balcı. Saran directed Ayşe Bayramoğlu′s play "Düğün," in which she also performed. Saran acted in a film "Zenne" (2012), directed by Caner Alper and Mehmet Binay; she received the Best Supporting Actress Award with her performance in the 48th Golden Orange Film Festival.

Besides being an actress and director, Saran continues to present a program on Açık Radio (94.7). She also acts as a voice actress and gives voice lessons at Kadir Has University.
