Zafer Yümlü was born in Izmir. He took his first musical lessons from A. Faruk Kakınç. In 1990, he entered the State Conservatory of Dokuz Eylül University, where he studied horn with Associate Professor Ferhat Güneri. Yümlü worked on “Russian School” with Ertuğrul Karamenderes between 1994 and 1998. In 1997 Yümlü worked with Prof.Charles Lecomte in France where he gave series of performances. He then worked with Prof.Gregory Cass at the Geneva Conservatory in 2000.

Between 1995 and 2001, Yümlü played as a guest artist with the Symphony Orchestra of Izmir, Bursa and Çukurova. In 2002 he estabslished the World Songs Group in Izmir. In 2004 he founded the Ensemble Feverish Music International Culture Agency, which aims to increase musical conciousness in the community by giving concerts with repertoires which include a wide range of national and international music.(www.efm.gen.tr)

In 2007, Yümlü organized a series of seminars entitled “Getting Familiar With Musical Instrument” in coordination with Ege University. He was invited to various other universities and educational institutions to give these seminars. In 2009, as a guest artist, Yümlü attended the Summer Academy Art Baltica in Lithuania, where he taught horn to Lithuanian students. He also performed many concerts in this project. In 2010, italian composer Andrea Ferrante wrote a horn concerto for Zafer Yümlü. In 2006 and 2013, Yümlü was invited to the musical activities in Dornbirn Horntage to give a horn course to German students. In 2013, Yümlü founded the Anatolia Horn Quartet, the Turkey′s first horn quartet. In 2014, he organized the First International Menderes Brass Festival in Menderes, Izmir. Yümlü has participated in numerous symposiums and seminars on polyphonic music as a guest speaker. He has published many articles and papers in the field of polyphonic music on various internet websites and musical journals. He published a book entitled "Anatolian Melodies for Four Horns." Yümlü currently continues teaching music at the Ensemble Feverish Music International Culture Agency. As the Founder and Director, he has organized master classes, in which prominent international musicians participate. Yümlü is the representative of many national and international musicians and music groups.
