Zerrin Özer was born in Ankara in 1962 where she finished both primary and high school. In 1975, she participated in a TRT song competition, and won first place. In 1976, she released her first record “Bizler ve Sizler & Yalvarırım” (Kent Plak Company). Between 1978 and 1980, she worked with the Istanbul Gelişim Orchestra on jazz and dance music projects. In 1980, Özer won a Golden Album Award with her song "Gönül", which was composed by Orhan Gencebay and arranged by Esin Engin. In the same year, she released her first LP “Seni Seviyorum”. In the next year, it was followed by the LP “Sevgiler”. In 1982, Özer gave concerts "Binbir Gece" (Thousand and one nights) at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. A year later, she performed in the Olympia Hall in Paris. She released her albums such as “Ve Zerrin Özer” (1981), “Gelecek Misin?” (1982), “Mutluluklar Dilerim” (1984), “Evcilik Oyunu” (1985) and “Kırmızı” (1985). From the Kırmızı album, she sang “Eminem” and “Dom Dom Kurşunu” in Arabic. She then released her CD "Dayanamıyorum" (1987) and "Dünya Tatlısı" (1988). In 1990, Özer won Best Album prize with her album "İşte Ben". In 1991, her album “Secildiğini Bil” became a big hit. After releasing “Olay Olay” album in 1992, she took a break for a few years. Özer returned with her album “Zerrin Özer 96”. In 1997, she released “Zerrin Özer 97”. In 2000, she was awarded Best Album prize for “Bir Zerrin Özer Arşivi”. In 2001, she released “Ben” as 2 CDs. This was followed by “Ölürüm Ben Sana” (2002), “Ve Böyle Bir Şey” (2005), “Ömür Geçiyor” and “Zerrin Özel” (2007).
