Sıla Gerbağa was born in 1987. She started performing flute at the State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul. She attended many master classes of renowned artists such as J. Arruda Campos, Patrick Gallois, A. Gülşen Tatu, Sibel Kumru Pensel, Felix Renggli and Loic Schneider. Gerbağa won third place in the wind instruments competition in St. Zargora, Bulgaria (2000); second prize (2002) and third place (2003) in the wind instruments competition in Sofia, Bulgaria; special mention award in the First National Prof. Cahit Koparak Flute Competition (2007) and the first place recognition in the second International Izmir Flute Competition (2012).

In 2014 she received second place in the International Flute Competition within the Monaco Flute Festival. She was invited to the Third International Nicolet Flute Competition in China in 2014. Gerbağa currently continues her master′s degree with Assoc. Prof. Jülide Gündüz at the MIAM of Istanbul Technical University.
