Sevil Ulucan was born in Şumnu, Bulgaria. She started studying violin with Veselin Spirov at the age of six. After moving to Turkey, she continued her violin study with Venyamin Varsawsky at the State Conservatory of Istanbul University. In 1998, she attended Salzburg Mozarteum Summer Academy with a scholarship, and had opportunities to study with famous violinists such as Mincho Minchev, Mikhail Khomitzer, Cihat Aşkın, Vadim Gluzman, Haim Taub, and Shlomo Mintz. Ulucan has performed in many concerts and festivals not only in Turkey but also abroad. Her debut abroad was in 2006 at the Berlin Konzerthous, at the Yong Euro Classic Festival. Since 2007, she has taught violin at the CAKA Istanbul violin summer and winter school. In 2009, she released her first album "Sevdana" with Gülnare Şekinskaya (Kalan, 2009). Currently, Ulucan serves as a research assistant at the State Conservatory of Istanbul University, and continues her doctoral degree with Venyamin Varsawsky.
