Şemsa İdil Ural began her musical studies at Istanbul University State Conservatory when she was five years old. She was accepted to the violoncello class of Prof. Reşit Erzin at the age of seven. Ural gave her first concert at the Terakki Foundation Schools’ concert hall when she was twelve years old. She attended violoncello master classes of Prof. Maria Kliegel and Prof. Clauss Kangiesser at Ayvalık International Music Academy, and of Prof. Anna Maria Ganter Hess at Vivace Music Academy. Ural also studied with Prof. Alexander Rudin. Despite her acceptance to Bilkent University, Faculty of Music and Performing Arts with a full scholarship in 2004, Ural chose to resume her studies at Istanbul University State Conservatory with Prof. Eldar Iskenderov whom Mstislav Rostropovich praised highly. Giving many recitals with her duo partner and pianist Alpay E. Vural, Ural has performed in many orchestras such as Şişli Symphony Orchestra, Kocaeli University Chamber Orchestra, Cemal Reşit Rey Symphony Orchestra, and particularly Istanbul University State Conservatory Symphony Orchestra. She also took part in Noesis Ensemble at the Young Artists Festival. Currently, Ural continues her performance in Istanbul.
