Sebla Akbulut was born in Istanbul in 1984. She started her musical career with piano. She studied harp with Sevin Berk and Ipek Mine Sonakin at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory, and graduated performing Debussy′s "Dance Sacree" and "Dance Profane" with the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory Orchestra at her graduation concert. In 2006, Akbulut completed her master′s degree in the Master of Music in Education Department at Yeditepe University. She attended many master classes in Turkey and abroad, where she had the opportunity to learn different aspects of music. She performed in many concerts with various chamber music ensembles.

Akbulut′s interest in Turkish Classical Music lead her to put together a project called "Harp with Maqams”, including vocals and kemenches. The purpose of the project, which had its premiere in Izmir Ahmet Adnan Saygun Cultural Center, was to gain a different perspective for harp in Turkish Classical Music. She took an active role in The Association for the Art of the  Harp (Arp Sanati Dernegi) for two years, which led her to play a piece in the distinguished world-renown harpist Ceren Necipoğlu′s album. As a volunteer instructor in Community Volunteers, Akbulut also instructed students of inadequate economic conditions. Since 2011, Akbulut has continued her studies at The Boston Conservatory GDP, Harp Division with The Boston Ballet Principal harpist Cynthia Price-Glynn.
