Nil Kocamangil was born in Istanbul in 1989. She began learning the cello with Dilbağ Tokay in 1998 at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory. After graduating as the best student from the conservatory in 2009, Kocamangil pursued her master’s degree with Prof. Claus Kanngiesser at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln with scholarships, and graduated with “excellence” degree in 2012.

Since her debut concert as a soloist with the orchestra at the age of 15, Kocamangil has performed with many orchestras including Sinfonietta Köln, Oberbergisches Kreises Symphonie Orchester, Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, Eskişehir Anatolia Symphony Orchestra, Philarmonia Istanbul, Bursa Region State Symphony Orchestra, Mersin University Academic Orchestra. She has worked with famous conductors such as Patrycja Pieczara, Cornelius Frowein, Gus Anton, Burak Tuzun, Naci Ozguc, Hakan Sensoy, and Nezih Seckin. Kocamangil has performed in the important national and international concert venues and festivals including Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Amsterdam Chamber Music Festival, Festivale de Musique A la Ferme, and Les Estivales de Megéve. In 2010-2013, she performed as a member of Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation. Since 2011, she has been a Concert-Scholar of Werner Richard-Dr. Carl Dörken Foundation in Germany.

Since 2006, Kocamangil has participated in many national and international competitions and received various prizes such as first prize (cello category) and German Friendship Special Award (chamber music category) in the International Austrian and German Music Competition in Bulgaria; first prize and the Jury Special Award in the International Young Musicians Competition in Italy; first prize in “Canetti International Music Festival” in Turkey; and Prize of Saint Jean de Luz - Rotary/Lions Club in Maurice Ravel International Music Academy.

Between 2002-2013, she participated in several master classes including "Verbier Festival Academy 2013," “Maurice Ravel International Music Academy,” “Mozarteum Salzburg International Summer Academy,” “Kronberg Academy,” “Cello Academy Rutesheim,” “Heifetz International Music Institute,” “Amsterdam Cello Biennial,” “Ayvalık International Music Academy,” and worked with the famous cellists such as; Gary Hoffman, Frans Helmerson, Maria Kliegel, Peter Bruns, Jens Peter Maintz, László Fenyö, Julius Berger.

Kocamangil currently continues her second master′s degree with French cellists Prof. Marc Coppey, Pauline Bartissol, and Xavier Phillips at Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP) with a private scholarship. Kocamangil is the co-founder of the string quartet “Quatuor Hadés” and continues studying with Prof. Miguel Da Silva in the class of the famous “Quatour Ysaye” at Conservatoire a rayonnement régional de Paris (CRR de Paris) in France.
