Kandemir Basmacıoğlu was born in Ankara in 1987. He began playing piano in Kirgizstan in 1995. In 1998 he entered the Faculty of Music and Stage Arts at Bilkent University and completed his master′s degree after graduating from the Faculty. He also studied piano with renowned pianists such as Michael Markov, Michael Roll, Boris Petrushansky, Konrad Elser and Oxana Yablonskaya in Turkey, Germany, Italy, Ukraine and Bulgaria.

Basmacıoğlu won a prize in the İş Sanat Young Talents Selection and gave a recital at İş Sanat within an event "Parlayan Yıldızlar′la Bir Hafta Sonu." In 2006 he was selected to attend the Cyprien Katsaris Piano Academy. In 2008 Basmacıoğlu received a DAAD artist fellowship and went to Germany to pursue his study at Hochschule für Musik Köln, where he studied piano with Prof. Vassily Lobanov. In 2009 he won a Borusan Music Fellowship and performed as a soloist in a special concert with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, which was directed by Cem Yılmaz. Basmacıoğlu completed his study in Germany and currently continues his doctoral degree, proficiency in arts, at Anadolu University State Conservatory. Since 2010 he has taught piano at Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory.
