Murat Meriç was born in Çanakkale in 1972. Since his childhood, he has had an interest in music and listened many records. While studying at the Department of Chemical Engineering of Ankara University, he had an interest in the history of Turkish pop music. He published "Müzük" magazine with his friends and joined the group of Roll mürettebatı. Meriç has written many articles on music in various magazines such as Birikim, Mürekkep, Milliyet Sanat, Vizyon, and Bant. He has given seminars on Turkish pop music on the occasion of special nights in Turkey and abroad. His TV program "Kırkbeşlik" was broadcast on TRT. He has also worked as a writer and advisor for numerous albums. Meriç prepared "Tülay German" album (“Burçak Tarlası 64 – 87”, 2001) for Kalan Music. His articles were included in the book "Cumhuriyet Modaları ve Cumhuriyet′in Sesleri." (Istanbul: Tarih Vakfı, 1999) He published the book Pop Dedik: Türkçe Sözlü Hafif Batı Müziği (Istanbul: İletişim, 2006). Meriç currently writes for Bir+Bir ve Express and Radikal newspaper, and presents a music program for TRT-FM.
