Mert Kutluğ started playing bassoon with M. Ali Boğuç and Candan Çakıcı at the State Conservatory of Istanbul University in 1994. He continued his study with A. Haydar Paşayev in 1999. In 2000, he performed with the Ensemble Feroce in the 28th Istanbul Music Festival. In the next year, he played with the Ensemble Ares in the 29th Istanbul Music Festival. In 2002, Kutluğ gave a concert with the pianist Fazıl Say in the International Beethoven Festival in Bonn. As a part of festival, he had a chance to work with notable conductors. He has also performed with important orchestras such as Akbank Chamber Orchestra, Borusan Philharmonic Orchestra, Şişli Municipality Symphony Orchestra, Istanbul Philharmonic and Milli Reasürans Chamber Orchestra. Since 2006, he works as a contract artist in the AKM Istanbul State Opera and Ballet. He has won second prize in section of “Istanbul Wind Instruments Quartet”, and first prize in the section of the best Turkish composer in the Young Talent Chamber Music Competition. In 2001, Kutluğ received first prize with the Ensemble Ares in an international chamber music contest.
