Mehmet Erhan Tanman was born in Istanbul in 1989. He studied composition with Prof. Dr. Hasan Uçarsu and piano with Prof. Selen Bucak at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University State Conservatory. As a composer, he had his first concert at the age of 16 with MSFAU State Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Erdem Çöloğlu. In later years, Tanman worked with national and international orchestras and ensembles including the Presidential Symphony Orchestra, MSFAU Wind & Percussion Symphony Orchestra, Sonus Brass Ensemble, Triage Modern Music Ensemble, and La Mer String Quartet. His compositions have been played in Turkey, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

In September 2012, Tanman was given a commission by Deutsche Welle, and his composition "The Traffic" was premiered by Turkish National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Cem Mansur as a part of Beethoven Fest Bonn 2012 in Berlin, Bonn, and Brussels. In upcoming years, Tanman has some projects with Feldkirch Symphony Orchestra, Turkey National Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Antalya State Symphony Orchestra, Equilibrium String Quartet, and Quartette Maurice. He has been pursuing his Master′s degree with Prof. Dr. Hasan Uçarsu at his alma mater.

In September 2013, Tanman will continue his studies at HfM Karlsruhe with Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Rihm in Germany. Currently, he is working on new projects, which were commissioned by Meininger Trio from Germany and a new solo piano piece, commissioned by world-wide known pianist Fazıl Say. Tanman works as a writer and lecturer of composition at Kocaeli University State Conservatory.
