Burcu Karadağ was born in Istanbul in 1979. After finishing elementary school, she entered the Department of Instrumental Training at Turkish Music State Conservatory of Istanbul Technical University. She studied Ney with Salih Bilgin and Niyazi Sayın, and solfége and theory (Nazariyat) from Erol Sayan and Doğan Dikmen, and Turkish classical music from Ali Eral. In 1996, Karadağ continued her studies at the Graduate School of her alma mater and graduated in 2000. During her education, she started giving concerts in France, Germany, Luxemburg, Belgium, Egypt, Austria, Azerbaijan, Switzerland and Oman with different orchestras and musicians. In 1996, besides music, she began learning the art of marbling (Ebru) with Fuat Başar and Tülay Taslacıoğlu. In 1998, Karadağ gave a solo concert at the Istanbul Cultural Center, and in the same year she started teaching Ney in Caferağa Medresesi. In 1999, she joined TRT Istanbul Radio as a Ney artist (Neyzen). She performed many times in radio and television. In 2001, she made a solo album, which contains Turkish Classical superior works from the TRT archive. It was conducted by Vahit Anadolu. Besides this album, she has also performed for lots of Turkish Music albums. In 2004, Karadağ started teaching at the Turkish Music Conservatory of Haliç University. Between 2005 and 2007, she played in Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall with the Turkish Music Ensemble, which was conducted by Mustafa Doğan Dikmen and by the art director Yalçın Çetinkaya. As of today, Karadağ is performing in TRT Istanbul Radio and other different music communities. She also continues to learn Ebru with Ayla Makas.
