Gülşen Tuncer was born in Adana in 1945. She finished at Istanbul High School for Girls and Istanbul Tarhan College. After graduating from the Theater Department in the Istanbul Municipality Conservatory, she studied at L.C.C. school. Tuncer performed in many theaters such as the Dostlar Theater, and acted in many films. She has managed the Istanbul Municipality Tepebaşı Stage and the Ankara Modern Stage. She has also worked as a director assistant in 37 films. In addition, Tuncer has written film scripts and worked as a singer, voice actor, lyricist, dialogue writer and producer. Tuncer has served actively in non-governmental organizations. In 1989, she received the best supporting actress prize for her performance in the film “Bir Tren Yolculuğu” in the second Ankara International Film Festival. In 1991, she won the best supporting actress prize for the role in the film “Soğuktu ve Yağmur Çişeliyordu” in the 28th Antalya Film Festival. In 2004, she wrote the scenario of the film “Penceremde Sardunyalar”. Since 2004, Tuncer has performed voluntarily in the Nazım Hikmet reader’s theatre, which has been staged by Yılmaz Onay in the Nazım Hikmet Culture Center every year. Currently, Tuncer lives and works in Istanbul.
