Mahmut Şenol was born in Istanbul in 1958. He is a contemporary Turkish author and journalist. He worked as a journalist for Cumhuriyet newspaper from 1976 to 1984. After returning from his military service, he worked for Son Havadis newspaper. In 1998, Şenol and his family moved to the US, and he pursued his doctoral degree in politics and philosophy at Purdue University. In the US, he continued working as a journalist for Turkish newspaper such as Cumhuriyet, Gazete Kent, Birgün newspaper, and Bodrum magazine. Şenol has published 7 books. He is a member of the Writers Syndicate of Turkey, Pen International, Language Association, Society of Authors, and the Progressive Journalists Association (PJA). Currently, Şenol lives and works in Edmonton, Canada.
