Şehnaz Hale Şakar Ürkmezgil was born in Ankara in 1949. She graduated from the Department of Graphic and Illustration in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University in 1973. In 1973-1990 she worked as an art and creative director in the advertising sector. In 1989, she started making sculptures using bronze and marble. Ürkmezgil has held over 20 solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions, art fairs and competitions in Turkey and abroad. She has received several awards. In 2002, she received the jury′s encouragement award in the Umut Foundation Art Competition. Her works can be seen in national and international private collections and the collection of Ankara Gazi Education University. Ürkmezgil currently continues working in Istanbul.
