Yavuz Erkan was born in Istanbul in 1982. In 2011, he graduated from Queensland College of Art, Griffith University in Australia with a Bachelor of Photography, having previously completed a Bachelor of Science at Istanbul Technical University in 2005. Erkan is an emerging artist who has a particular interest in nonconformists and anti-heroes in society, and his work revolves around the idea of invalidating power structures or reformulating the set of their existing rules. He has held many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Australia and the US. Erkan was the winner of 2011 Youngblood Editions, Queensland Centre for Photography. Currently, he pursues his Master′s degree in Cultural Studies at Bilgi University in Istanbul.
