Nazan Azeri was born in Bursa in 1953. She graduated from the Faculty of Law at Istanbul University in 1975. After practicing as a lawyer for a while, she entered the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Marmara University in 1989. She completed her master’s degree in 1996 and doctoral degree in 2000 at the Institute of Social Science of Marmara University. Between 1993 and 1994, Azeri served as a board member of UNESCO-AIAP and UPS association. In 2004, she organized “Dönüşüm” exhibition as a part of the 20th IFSAK Photograph Days. She took part in the exhibition with her works “Metamorphosis”. Generally she creates her works using a wide variety of techniques including canvas paintings, video performances and photography. Azeri has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in lots of group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. In 2010, she was invited to the Munich UNDERDOX Artistic Video Festival with her video work “Annemin Gelinliği”. Since 1998, Azeri has taught as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Fine Art at Beykent University.
