Nadir Ede

Halil Nadir Ede was born in Zonguldak in 1945. He moved to Istanbul with his family in 1955. After finishing Işık High School, he graduated from the Department of Physics in the Faculty of Science at Istanbul University in 1971. He started working at the Kandilli Observatory as an observer while he was still University student. After finishing University he worked at a Film Archives in Cinema TV Institution. Ede then directed an engineering laboratory at General Electric Motors factory (1974-1977); the data processing center of ECA company (1977-1980).

After resigning from Istanbul Photograph and Film Amateur Association, Ede established “Group F” with his friends.  He founded his own workshop, and started taking commercial and industrial photographs. Since 1985 he has taught photography at the Photograph Department of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University (until 2007) and the Anthropology Department in the Faculty of Literature of Istanbul University. Between 1995 and 2008, Ede directed Fotoğraf Dergisi (magazine). In 2008 he started working as a director at the web site: fotopya.com.tr. Ede has had many group exhibitions and shows. Among his solo exhibitions are: "İstanbul Solarizasyonları", "Nadir Ede′nin Arşivinden 1950lerin İstanbul′u" and "İstanbul, Yüz yıl Önce, Yüz Yıl Sonra". Currently, he teaches at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Işık University and serves as a photograph adviser. Along with taking photographs, he collects old photo films and photographs.
