Art Profile :

Burcu Perçin was born in Ankara in 1979. She studied painting at the workshop of Kemal Iskender and graduated from the Painting Department of Fine Arts of Mimar Sinan University. She builds the principles of her works upon the gigantic visual contraries; she creates her compositions with elements like nonfunctional fire extinguisher containers, rusty iron plates, barely standing cranes and behind them all, snowy mountains. Perçin receives attention with her works that focus on policies of the globalized industrial societies that do not calculate the consequences of industrial wastes that threaten the existence of the world. The first major group exhibition she participated in was a travelling exhibition which began in Istanbul in 1997 and concluded in New York in 2004. Perçin had her first solo exhibition in Istanbul in 2005. Since then she has had many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibition in Turkey and abroad: Greece, Macedonia, Germany and Austria.
