Ayhan Tomak was born in Antakya in 1970. He egraduated from the Faculty of Economics at Istanbul University. He was a member of the IFAR Painting group, which was founded and led by the painter Erol Deneç. Between 1991 and 1995, Tomak participated in many group painting exhibitions in Istanbul and other cities throughout Turkey. He also designed illustrations for newspapers and magazines, book and CD covers. Since 1996, he has held many solo exhibitions and participated in various group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad.
In addition to painting, Tomak started making sculptures and reliefs in 2000. He uses wood as a basic material for his work. He transfers his wood curving experiences to his sculptures. He has also developed new designs working with mirrors and wood.
Since 2008 Tomak has been a member of the Helsinki International Artists Association. He gives lessons on wood sculpturing and painting at his own studio in Istanbul.
