Ahmet Öğüt was born in Diyarbakır in 1981. He graduated from the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Hacettepe University in 2003. He then completed his master’s degree in the Faculty of Art and Design at Yıldız Technical University in 2006. He went to Amsterdam and studied at Rijksakademie Van Beeldende Kunsten / Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science for a year. He published his books Today in History with Book Works and Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center (2007) and On the Road to Other Land with A Prior and 5th Berlin Biennial (2008). In 2009, Öğüt represented Turkey in the Pavilion of Turkey at the 53rd International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennial. In 2010, he received the Kunstpreis Europas Zukunft award from the Museum of Contemporary Art (GFZK) in Leipzig. Currently, Öğüt lives and works in Amsterdam, where he creates his installations and video works.
