Ramazan Bayrakoğlu was born in Balıkesir in 1966. He graduated from the Painting Department in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dokuz Eylül University in 1989. In the same year he started working as a research assistant. In 1992, he became an assistant professor. He has had four solo exhibitions in Turkey. Among exhibitions he has participated are: “Bilginin Sıfır Noktası”, Izmir Communication Gallery (Izmir 2002), “Üstü Değil, Kendisi”, K2 Art Center (Izmir 2004), “Sesler, Geceyle Büyüenler”, Borusan Art Gallery (Istanbul 2005), “Poetika/Erotika”, Galerie Perpetuel (Frankfurt, 2005) and “Freekick”, 9th International Istanbul Biennial, “Istanbul Meltemi”, Proje 4L, Elgiz Contemporary Art Museum (Istanbul 2006), “Boyscraft / Overcraft”, Haifa Museum of Art, (curator: Tami Katz-Freiman), (Hayfa 2007); “İmkansız Değil, Üstelik Gerekli, Küresel Savaş Çağında İyimserlik”, 10th International Istanbul Biennial (curator: Hou Hanru), (Istanbul 2007), Save As, Triennial Bovisa, (curator: Derya Yücel), (Milano 2008) and Art Dubai Art Fair / Dirimart (2009). His works can be seen in many collections such as Istanbul Modern Museum and Proje 4L Contemporary Museum. Currently, Bayrakoğlu lives and works in Izmir.
