Yurdaer Altıntaş was born in Istanbul in 1935. He graduated from the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts, Poster workshop in 1957. His first solo exhibition which was held at the Turkish German Cultural Center in 1964 was the first graphics design exhibition in Turkey. His works were published in the German magazine, Gebraucshgraphik. He has contributed to the introduction of Turkish graphic designs to foreign countries. In 1974 he led a movement to establish the Graphic Artist Association. The same year his works on Nasreddin Hoca were published as a book in England. In 1976 he started to work as a tutor at the Istanbul State Academy of Fine Arts and retired from Mimar Sinan University in 2002. He was the chair of the Graphic Artist Professional Organization in 1982 and in 1987-1993. He has had numerous solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. His works can be seen in museums and archive collections throughout the world.
