Arzu Arda Koşar graduated from the University of Southern California in 1999 and completed her undergraduate work in Studio Arts and Art History, with a minor in Philosophy and Women’s Studies, at the University of Pittsburgh in 1993. Her art focuses on topics related to inter-group relationships and balkanization. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions, including the Shoshanna Wayne Gallery, the 18th Street Art Center Crazy Space in Santa Monica and several others. Kosar’s work has earned major recognition from periodicals such as The Los Angeles Times, OC Weekly, the Lummox Journal, Cumhuriyet, Nokta, and her articles on architecture and sociology have appeared in Doxa magazine. In 2000, she was co-curator of Art and Science Conference, which was held in Los Angeles. In the same year, she participated in the Women’s Caucus on Art Panel in Los Angeles. In 2005, Koşar was a committee member to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of USC. She collaborated with filmmaker Deb Diehl on the project about the history and physical and psychological boundaries of Los Angeles. She also set the groundwork to begin another project “the coming of age process in Istanbul” with artist Gül Çağın in conjunction with Istanbul 2010 European Cultural Capital Projects. Koşar has taught as an instructor at several schools in California. Since 2009, Koşar has taught as an art instructor at Palos Verdes Art Center in California. Currently, she lives and works in California.
