Ahmet Özol was born in Balıkesir in 1945. He graduated from the Painting-Work Department at Ankara Gazi Institute of Education in 1967. In the same year he was appointed to a teaching position at Çorum primary school, where he worked for 4 years. In 1971 Özol started working at Istanbul Atatürk Institute of Education and went to Paris with a fellowship, which was given by the French Government. After his return to Turkey, Özol continued working at Atatürk Institute of Education. He taught painting at the Atatürk Faculty of Education of Marmara University in 1982-1987 and completed his doctoral degree, proficiency in arts in 1985. Özol became an Associate Professor in 1989 and a Professor in 1999. He worked for the project of art education and teaching at Arizona University in 1997. Prof. Özol has held many solo exhibitions and participated in numerous group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. In 1998 he joined the exhibition "Contemporary Turkish Painting Art," which was organized in Islamabad, Pakistan on the occasion of 75th anniversary of Republic of Turkey. Prof. Özol currently teaches at Marmara University in Istanbul.
