Cemal Külcü was born in 1964. He finished primary, middle and high school in Kastamonu. In 1981 he graduated from the Department of Wooden works of Industrial Vocational High School. Külcü worked as a machine operator in the wooden industry for 2 years. After completing his military service, Külcü started serving as a tutor for craftsmen at the Directorate of the Research Institute of Handicrafts. As of today, he works as a chief of a workshop and continues to carve woods. He mainly applies Seljuk and Ottoman motifs to handicrafts and big furniture.
