Dr. Karin Adahl is an art historian specializing in Islamic Art, Orientalism and the cultural relations between Sweden and the Islamic world, especially Turkey. She earned her Ph.D. in Art History and became an Associate Professor at Uppsala University, Sweden. Dr. Adahl received the title of Professor Honoris Causa (Prof. h.c.) at the Riga Art Academy in Latvia. From 1989 to 1995, she was a senior researcher at Uppsala University and worked as a curator of Islamic Art at the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities in Stockholm from 1989 to 2003. She served as director in the Swedish Research Institute in Istanbul from 2003 to 2008.

Her recent publications and articles include “A Khamsa of Nizami in the Uppsala University Library” (1981), “An Analysis of the Miniature Paintings” (1982), “Orientalismen i Sverige” (Orientalism in Sweden, 1990), and “The Sultan′s procession” (2006).
