Ekrem Çoktan was born in Istanbul in 1968. He graduated from the Department of History in the Faculty of Language, History and Geography at Ankara University. He continued his mater’s degree in Turkish and Islamic Art History at Marmara University. He learned marbling (Ebru) art and miniature from Cahide Keskiner, Semih İrteş and Mahmure Öz, and obtained a professional license from the master Ahmet Çoktan. Ekrem has had many solo exhibitions, and has participated in various group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. He taught Turkish Arts at Cape Town University in South Africa, and Japan. Currently, Çoktan continues to work with Ahmet Çoktan at their workshop in Istanbul.
