Battal Etlık

Battal Etlık was born in 1965. In 1988 he completed his education in Islamic Arts and Traditional Turkish Arts at Faculty of Fine Arts, Marmara University. He received his masters degree in 1992. His research about the influence of European decorative art on the Ottoman Art made an important impression on him to create his own style. Since 1984 he has made restoration and wall decorating work in hotels and private residences both in Turkey and abroad. He produces Ottoman style tombak collections, accessories, miniatures and gilding applications. Etlık received several awards: “Gilding & Miniature” from Istanbul Press Museum (1988); “Turkish Miniature Art” from Istanbul Turkish Cultural Foundation, the Second Best Miniature in the competition (1991); “Gilding Exhibition” from Istanbul Islamic Art & Culture Research Center (1991).
