Orkide Alakoç

Orkide Alakoç was born in Istanbul and currently lives in Bursa. At the age of five, she made necklaces, yearlings and watches with soda bottle caps. She made it as her profession and has continued to make jewelry since the 1990’s. After finishing her education at the university, she went to Germany and learned jewelry techniques. In addition, she also studied stylistics and ceramics. As Alakoç has always had an eye for catching trends early and incorporating them into her jewelry. Her works attracted attention and began to sell not only in Istanbul but also in Bursa, and even abroad. Under the influence of minimalism, her works lost popularity; she had to work as a customer counselor at a bank for six years. She later founded her own company and started designing jewelry, tricots and furniture. Alakoç incorporates every kind of textile, bead, semiprecious stone, silver, woodwork, ceramic and any object that is not traditionally associated with accessories. She also gives classes on jewelry two days a week.
