Murat Yanar

Murat Yanar was born in Çorum in 1953. He finished Bahçelievler primary school. He started working beside a coppersmith İsmail Özbakır in 1968. He learned how to make water heaters, kettles for Turkish coffee, banners of minaret, hot pots and other copper objects using nickering and copper for 5 years. In 1977 he founded his workshop and developed his skill. He leaned toward decorative art in 1990 and started making alem (finial: top section of minaret) mainly. He got the title “Alemci Murat” (alem maker Murat) and has sent his objects to abroad. He makes wooden works and sculptures as well as copper works at his own workshop.
