Yavuz Saim Öztaş

The tanning industry in Yalvaç dates back to the Seljuk period. Leather skin and leather works are still made by hand in the district. Leather craftsmen produce different kind of leather goods and decorate them with traditional Turkish motifs.
Yavuz Saim Öztaş was born in Yalvaç in 1960. He completed vocational high school in the leather industry department. While at university he took classes in leather decorative goods. Today he produces leather goods with his children at his own workshops. He sells these goods at DÖSİM shops, that belong to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and he also participates in fairs.
