Art Profile :

Emine İbaç was born in Tokat and finished high school. She had an interest in Turkish handicrafts and participated in many classes to learn technique. She then taught as a master craftsman at the Public Educational Center for 4 years. İbaç researched traditional Anatolian “oya kese” (sacks made with needle work), and revived the craft, redesigning them with modern shapes and motifs. She was also inspired by Tokat’s famous “oya” (needle work and embroidery). She takes an idea: colors, motifs and designs from antique sacks, which were used for watches, money and stamps. İbaç continues her works both at home and the Public Educational Center.
