Art Profile :

Ela Kaşeli Akalın was born in Istanbul. She graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration at Anadolu University. In 1999, she took classes on color and design from Hülya Düzenli. Between 2000 and 2003, Akalın learned marbling art (Ebru) from Ayla Makas at the Caferağa Medresesi. In 2004, she continued to learn marbling at the Ayla Makas workshop. In 2004 and 2005, she learned calligraphy from Efdaluddin Kılıç at the Caferağa Medresesi. Akalın also took miniature class from Meral Aşan. Between 2008 and 2009, Akalın learned paper cutting (Kaatı) from Dürdane Ünver and Müjgan Başköylü at the workshop of Yıldız Palace Şale Kiosk, which belongs to the Turkish Ministry National Palaces, and obtained her professional license in paper cutting. She has participated in many group exhibitions in Istanbul. Currently, Akalın continues to work on cutting paper and marbling.
