Bingül Başarır started making ceramics in Istanbul in 1960. Since 1962, she has had many solo exhibitions and has participated in various national and international exhibitions. Her works can be seen in many international public and private collections, such as Mikolas Ales South Bohemian Gallery (Bechyne), Museum of Decorative Arts (Prague), Gallerie Madoura (Vallauris), Keramion Ceramics Museum (Frechen), Everson Museum of Art, Syracuse (NY), Faenza International Ceramics Museum (Italy), Ariana Ceramics Museum (Geneva), Ankara Museum of Painting and Sculpture (Ankara), and Benaki Museum (Athens). Başarır also works with glass in addition to ceramics. She has received various awards for her works including a gold medal at the Prague International Ceramics Competition (1962), a gold medal at the Faenza International Ceramics Competition (Italy, 1979-1975), first prize at the State Painting and Sculpture Competition (Turkey, 1992), and honorable mention award at the Mino International Ceramics Competition (Japan, 1992). Başarır is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics in Geneva, the National committee of Alap-UNESCO, and a member of Foundation of Education, Fine Art and Culture in Izmir.
