Atilla Yusuf Turgut was born in Bonn in 1973. After finishing his primary education in Germany, he completed his middle and high school education in Istanbul, Turkey. He graduated from the Department of Traditional Turkish Handicrafts in the Faculty of Fine Arts at Mimar Sinan University in 1998. In the next year, Turgut started working as an assistant in the Branch of Illumination Art in the Department of Traditional Turkish Handicrafts at his alma mater. In 2003, he completed his master’s degree at his alma mater. Since 1998, Turgut has participated in many group exhibitions in Turkey and abroad. In 2007, he won first prize in the category of miniature in the 14th State Turkish Decorative Arts Competition, which was organized by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In 2009, Turgut received third prize in the “Al Burda” International Illumination competition, which was held by the United Arab Emirates, Abu Dhabi Ministry of Culture. Currently, Turgut continues to work at Mimar Sinan University.
